The CDME conference will be held at the beautiful Neues Palais campus of the University of Potsdam.
Many of the buildings making up this historic campus were previously part of the last royal residence of Frederick the Great, who was King of Prussia from 1740 until 1786. Today, the area of Park Sanssouci is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If you have the chance, we recommend a stroll through the gardens or a visit to one of the royal palaces, most of which are open from 10:00 to 17:30 during summer.
Directions to and from the conference venue
If you are coming from Berlin you should buy a ticket for zones ABC, which covers all of Berlin and Potsdam. You need to validate your tickets using the little red machines before getting on any train.
Within Potsdam you can buy Potsdam zone A tickets, which cover the full city center. In Potsdam tickets can be validated on trains and buses.
- Lines 605/606/695 from Potsdam main station (Hauptbahnhof (S), Potsdam) stop directly in front of campus. The stop is called Potsdam, Neues Palais.
The bus takes about 15 to 20 minutes from Potsdam main station. Buses generally run every 10 minutes.
- From Potsdam main station you can take a regional train (RE21, 22, 23) to Potsdam, Park Sanssouci, from where you can either walk or take any of the above mentioned buses one stop to Potsdam, Neues Palais.
- From Berlin you can either take a regional train, which will take you all the way to Potsdam, Park Sanssouci, or an S-Bahn to Potsdam main station, from where you can take the bus or transfer to a regional train.
We strongly recommend downloading an app or checking online before you go to and from Berlin, as regional trains only run every 30 minutes at peak hours and less frequently during off peak hours. The main website to check is BVG, which also has an app available. Alternately you can download the Deutsche Bahn apps, DB Navigator for Android, DB Navigator for Apple, or Google Maps to find the best way to your destination desired.
Once you've reached the Neues Palais campus you should head to Haus 9. Registration will take place in room 115.
In case you have any questions, please feel free to get in touch with us at any time!
Free wireless internet is available throughout the University of Potsdam, using either EDUROAM or UP-Conference.
If your institution is linked to EDUROAM, you can log on the same way you normally would through your own institution.
To log on to the UP-Conference network, please use the code you picked up at the registration desk. Once your device is connected to the UP-Conference system, you should open an internet browser then type in your code.
This code is valid for the duration of the conference, but can only be used on one device at a time.
Lunch will be held at the "Mensa" (the typical German university dining hall), located in Haus 12 at Neues Palais. Vouchers for lunch on Friday and Saturday are attached to your name tag. Each voucher is redeemable for one main dish, one dessert and one fountain drink (bottled drinks are not included).
After selecting your lunch, hand your voucher to the cashier.
On Friday, the Mensa is open to the public and usually offers two vegetarian and two non-vegetarian dishes. On Saturday, the Mensa will open just for us and will offer one vegetarian and one non-vegetarian dish.
